¿LA PREGUNTA? Was originally a anarchist performance artist, Taco Guillen, creating messages of food deserts, queer liberation, and talks of mental health through body movement and imagery.
As always the project was meant to be welcoming to others who wanted to create the message as more with music and lyrics.
Daniel James Halaby joined using a small drum machine and played around during the pandemic and together they decided to record a ep.
As Tacos previous music is notorious for the presence of femme and masc dual vocals, commonly heard in crust and Anarcho bands that he adored, he requested Angee zavala to join for a song in Spanish.
Angee happens to be one of Taco's favorite Mexican LA punk singers in Destruye y Huye. She soon was asked to perform live, becoming a staple in the collective. The leading roles are now shared withing the band.
“Two pieces is a couple” “three is a party “ - Taco
Put together Neoperreo basslines with anarco punk ritualistic scapes a la D&V through Synth and Dance and you have some of what forms the skeleton of ¿LA PREGUNTA?.
If anybody imagined the cumbia party would ever turn punk, but not just punk, I mean Synth/EBM/Leather/Dystopian/Horny/Angry/Absurd/Silly punk, well here it did.
Listen, grab life by the throat because as we know, peace is only an illusion. Live it fully, and let it go easily. Much like this music, moments of true beauty can be counted with the fingers of one hand.
¿LA PREGUNTA? hints at the fleeting nature of freedom and beauty in our lives under contstant pressure.
